Catherine Higham is an artist/photographer looking to work with a poet. Her materials and processes are multidisciplinary: painting, assemblage, photography, ephemeral sculpture. She works with themes that have an environmental focus.
I would like to work with a poet on the theme of water, although of course this means everything. I am interested in the connection between water and the body. Currently I am working on The effects of water quality on Lake Clifton thrombolites for the Adaptation project with SymbioticA using documentary photographs of creek lines… Also [doing] a series of paintings based on cloud seeding…

Ideally a poet, who has an interest in the themes I am working with. I would also be interested in a visual artist working with text although my preference is for a poet.

Catherine Higham has lived with Western Australia since 1991. Higham’s experiences as an artist and farmer living in the South West of Western Australia provide the source of her arts practice.
Current work includes Higham’s research and development with the SymbioticA project Adaptation, based at Lake Clifton. In this project Higham attempts to connect watershed in her immediate surrounding to Lake Clifton through the investigation of water qualities. Higham intends to document her findings using photography (see http://symbiotica-adaptation.com/?page_id=37).

14 MILE BROOK-4TH PHOTO ON THIS SITE.
I LIE HERE, EYES SHUT,
NOT WANTING TO SEE
THE RUSTED RAINBOW, FADING,
CRACKED PANE OF FRAGILE GLASS,
SURFACE OF WATER, THAT SHOULD BE
PURE, CLEAN AND SPARKLING.
WHERE ARE MY KEEPERS?
THE ONES WHO SHOULD BE GUARDING
HAS THIS “MODERN” MANKIND FORGOTTEN?
I AM – THE ELIXIR OF LIFE,
WHAT THEN
IF I
SICKEN
AND D I E ?
